Coy Martin is an Associate at Zumwalt, Almon & Hayes,
PLLC. He was admitted to the Bar October 13, 2008. Coy
recently graduated from the University of Memphis, Cecil
C. Humphrey’s School of Law, with his final year
of law school spent at Vanderbilt University. He earned
his Bachelor of Arts in History and has completed half
of his Masters work in Colonial American History. Prior
to and during law school Coy worked for Zumwalt, Almon
& Hayes, PLLC, as well as filled a Business Affairs
position at Archer Records.
During
the summer of 2007, Coy acted as the Tour Manager for
a 7-week/40-city national tour for artist Amy LaVere through
his work with Archer Records. Coy authored and presented
a paper, “Heroic Deeds: Branding in the World of
Web 2.0” at the 19th Annual Southern Regional Entertainment
& Sports Law Conference held in San Juan, Puerto Rico
(2007).
Recently,
at the 20th Annual Southern Regional Entertainment &
Sports Law Conference held in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico (2008),
Coy authored a paper and presented on the panel, “Entertainment
Industry 2008 - Are you Scared?” explaining various
cutting-edge business models for web based entertainment
companies and the evolving digital music industry. An
excerpt from that paper reads, “As we continue to
hear the desperate cries that the music business is dying,
only those that understand the new rules of engagement
that will define the business of the future will be left
standing when the dust settles. It will take a vast array
of people and technologies working together to keep digital
music progressing into the future and not go the way of
the 8-track tape (or for that matter the compact disc)…”
Coy
has attended numerous seminars on, written papers for,
and made presentations covering various aspects of the
digital entertainment industry, with a focus on branding
in the digital space.
