| Orville
Almon, Jr. has practiced entertainment and music law for
28 years. A partner in the entertainment law firm of Zumwalt,
Almon & Hayes, PLLC, he represents prominent recording artists,
producers and songwriters. He also works closely with record
company executives, publishers, television production companies,
managers and other entertainment related clients. His practice
includes negotiating existing agreements and new technology
issues. Mr. Almon has extensive experience in drafting language
for difficult-to-define issues, negotiations and drafting
“issue-specific” agreements.
Mr.
Almon has attained the highest rating, “A/V,” by renown
LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings. In January
2002 he was selected one of the “Best Lawyers In Nashville”
by Nashville Post and will be listed in the 2007 edition
of “The Best Lawyers In America” and “Super Lawyers of the
Mid-South.” He is also listed in several “Who's Who” editions
(e.g., Continental, Madison, Strathmore and Chambers USA).
He has given presentations at civic organizations and universities
as well as presided over CLE presentations and appeared
on numerous CLE panels. He is a member of the American,
Tennessee and Nashville Bar Associations, the Country Music
Association and Leadership Music Alumni, currently serving
as Co-Chairman of the Artist Program for the 2009 Leadership
Music Class.
Mr.
Almon received his B.S. degree in Business Administration
with an emphasis in accounting from University of Missouri
at Columbia. While there he was inducted into Phi Eta Sigma,
a national fraternity honoring academic achievement during
the freshman year and into Beta Alpha Psi, the national
accounting fraternity honoring academic achievement in accounting.
A Distinguished Military Graduate from the Army ROTC program,
he served 4 years in the Army until resigning his commission
as a Captain to enter law school at University of Memphis
in 1979, where he graduated from Cecil C. Humphreys School
of Law. While at law school he was selected to the Memphis
State University Law Review for his academic achievement
and elected to the Editorial Board of the Law Review as
Administrative Editor for the 1978-79 school year. Upon
graduation he was selected as a member of The Order of Barristers
for exhibiting excellence and attaining high honor through
the art of courtroom advocacy.
Mr.
Almon is married and has 3 children -- twin boys who are
seniors at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama and
a daughter who is a freshman at Auburn University.
